VP of Operations Application for Andros Innovations
We're solving the hardest problem in chemistry, and we can't do it alone. We're looking for scientist, engineers, builders, innovators and connectors to join our mission.
Location: Boston, MA | Type: Full-Time
The Mission: Andros is transitioning from a "Science Project" to an "Operating Company." The science works. Now we need the infrastructure to scale it.
As the VP of Operations, you are the backbone of the company. You will take the chaos of a rapidly growing hardware startup and turn it into a disciplined, high-velocity machine. You are not sitting in a spreadsheet all day; you are on the floor ensuring the lab is safe, the parts are arriving on time, and the lights stay on. You are the "Chief Unblocker" for the engineering team.
What You Will Own
Supply Chain & Procurement: Build the vendor network to support our Pilot Plant build. You ensure that when an engineer needs a custom pressure vessel, it arrives in 6 weeks, not 16.
Facilities & EHS: You own the physical footprint. You manage the lab build-out, ensure compliance with municipal codes, and most importantly instill a world-class safety culture (OSHA/EHS) for handling hazardous chemicals.
Grant Management: We are fueled by non-dilutive capital (DOE, NSF). You will manage the reporting, billing, and compliance for millions of dollars in government contracts.
People Operations: From onboarding new engineers to managing payroll and benefits, you build the systems that make Andros a great place to work.
Financial Planning: Manage the burn rate. Work with the Founders to create realistic budgets and ensure we deploy capital efficiently.
Who You Are
5+ Years in Hardware/Industrial Operations: You have built things in the physical world (Climate Tech, Biotech, or Manufacturing). Software experience does not apply here.
Safety Obsessed: You know what a "Chemical Hygiene Plan" is and you take it seriously.
The "Adult in the Room": When things go wrong (and they will), you bring order, process, and calm execution.
Contract Savvy: You can read a lease agreement, a vendor MSA, or a government grant solicitation and spot the red flags.
Scrappy: You are a VP who isn't afraid to drive a U-Haul to pick up equipment if that’s what the mission requires.
Bonus Points
Experience with government contracting or successful grant writing.
Experience helping a startup transition from Incubator to its own Pilot Facility.
About Andros Innovations
Andros Innovations is a pioneer in advanced chemical engineering, redefining the global ammonia supply chain to fuel a decarbonized future. Our proprietary reactor technology disrupts the century-old Haber-Bosch process, enabling the efficient production of low-carbon ammonia at low temperatures and atmospheric pressure, unlocking a scalable path to green fertilizer and sustainable marine fuel.
Supported by Activate.org, Greentown Labs, Third Derivative, Massachusetts Center for Clean Energy and others Andros has been recognized as a top emerging deep-tech startup within our first year. Andros has received awards from MIT’s Climate and Energy Prize, Yale’s Climate Innovation Summit, The University of Connecticut and FORGE, for innovation and climate impact. We are transitioning from breakthrough science to industrial scale, building the technology needed to feed the next billion people and power the heavy industries of tomorrow without emissions.
