VP of Operations Application for Andros Innovations

Location: Boston, MA | Type: Full-Time

The Mission: Retire The Haber-Bosch Process.

Humanity relies on the Haber-Bosch process to feed 4 billion people, but it consumes ~1% of the world's energy and spews gigatons of carbon dioxide. At Andros, we are building the reactor to end this dependency. We are developing a decentralized, low-pressure ammonia synthesis platform to decarbonize the future of food and fuel. We need a VP of Operations to build the machine that builds the machine. You will own the physical and operational infrastructure required to take us from "Lab Breakthrough" to "Industrial Deployment."

The Role

You will stand at the intersection of Supply Chain, Facilities, and Organizational Growth. While the engineering team solves the chemistry, you solve the friction. You will be responsible for sourcing critical hardware, managing our lab and pilot facilities, navigating regulatory compliance, and ensuring that our logistics (inbound parts and outbound ammonia) run without failure.

What you will actually do:

  • Own the Supply Chain: You will manage the procurement of complex industrial hardware. You ensure that long-lead items (compressors, exotic alloys) are ordered on time so that engineering sprints never stall.

  • Facilities & Safety (EHS): You are the custodian of our physical footprint. You will manage lab build-outs, oversee contractor work, and enforce safety protocols (OSHA, chemical handling) to protect the team.

  • Commercial Logistics: You will build the logistics network to deliver our green ammonia to customers. You will handle HAZMAT transport regulations, DOT certifications, and cylinder tracking.

  • Regulatory Compliance: You will lead the charge on permitting for our pilot plants. You will navigate local, state, and federal regulations to ensure we have the "license to operate."

  • Scale the Team: You will build the operational scaffolding for headcount growth, from onboarding new engineers to managing HR systems and payroll.

  • Financial Discipline: You will work with leadership to manage burn, track CapEx vs. OpEx, and ensure every dollar spent moves the needle on TRL.

  • Grant Support: You will support our non-dilutive efforts with state and federal grants, securing documents and participating in writing grants.

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of Operations experience in Deep Tech, Hardware, Energy, or Manufacturing environments.

  • The "Generalist" Mindset: You have worn every hat: Procurement Manager, Facility Manager, HR Lead, and Safety Officer.

  • Supply Chain Grit: You know how to negotiate with vendors and hold them accountable.

  • Regulatory Fluency: Experience with hazardous materials, industrial permitting, or safety standards (OSHA, PSM) is critical.

  • Bias for Action: You fix problems before they stop the engineering team.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience in the Chemical or Energy sectors.

  • Experience scaling a startup from Seed to Series A.

  • Background in military logistics or industrial project management.

Why Andros?

  • Solve a Century-Defining Challenge: You will be working on one of the most significant hurdles in modern thermodynamics: breaking the nitrogen triple bond efficiently. This is not incremental optimization; it is a fundamental shift in how the world produces energy and food. Your work will directly contribute to decarbonizing gigatons of carbon dioxide emissions.

  • Technical Ownership & Autonomy: As a senior leader, you will not just execute a roadmap; you will define it. You will have the authority to make critical decisions without the administrative bottlenecks found in large companies.

  • The Deep Tech Frontier: You will be working at the cutting edge of chemical manufacturing and systems engineering. We are deploying novel hardware systems that move beyond standard industry practices. You will have access to the resources and tooling required to bridge the gap between theoretical chemistry and industrial application.

  • Mission-Driven Velocity: We operate with the urgency that the climate crisis demands. You will join a lean, high-caliber team where iteration cycles are measured in days, not quarters. We value rapid hypothesis testing, data-driven decisions, and scientific rigor.

  • Meaningful Equity: We believe that the engineers building the future should share in the value they create. As a key early member of the technical team, you will receive a competitive equity package that aligns your long-term incentives with the company’s success.

About Andros Innovations

Andros Innovations is a pioneer in advanced chemical engineering, redefining the global ammonia supply chain to fuel a decarbonized future. Our proprietary reactor technology disrupts the century-old Haber-Bosch process, enabling the efficient production of low-carbon ammonia at low temperatures and atmospheric pressure, unlocking a scalable path to green fertilizer and sustainable marine fuel.

Supported by Activate.org, Greentown Labs, Third Derivative, Massachusetts Center for Clean Energy and others Andros has been recognized as a top emerging deep-tech startup within our first year. Andros has received awards from MIT’s Climate and Energy Prize, Yale’s Climate Innovation Summit, The University of Connecticut and FORGE, for innovation and climate impact. We are transitioning from breakthrough science to industrial scale, building the technology needed to feed the next billion people and power the heavy industries of tomorrow without emissions.
