Science & Engineering Summer Intern Application for Andros Innovations
We're solving the hardest problem in chemistry, and we can't do it alone. We're looking for scientist, engineers, builders, innovators and connectors to join our mission.
Location: Boston, MA | Type: Summer Internship (10-12 Weeks)
The Mission At Andros, we do not hire interns to fetch coffee. We hire interns to fetch data.
As a Science & Engineering Intern, you will be embedded directly into our R&D team. You will stand next to our Senior Engineers in the lab, assisting with catalyst synthesis, reactor construction, and data analysis. You will be given a specific technical project on Day 1, and you will be expected to present your findings to the Founders on your last day.
This is a "boots on the ground" role. If you want to sit at a desk all summer, this is not for you. If you want to learn how to build a chemical plant from scratch, apply.
What You Will Do
Catalyst Prep: Assist in the synthesis and characterization of novel catalytic materials. You will learn wet chemistry and solid-state techniques.
Reactor Operations: Support the operation of our high-temperature test stands. You will learn how to handle pressurized gases, calibrate mass flow controllers, and analyze GC (Gas Chromatography) data.
Mechanical Build: Help assemble test rigs. You will learn Swagelok tube bending, VCR fitting assembly, and basic leak-checking protocols.
Data Python: Build scripts to automate the analysis of reactor logs, turning raw CSV files into actionable kinetic plots.
Who You Are
Undergraduate or Graduate Student in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
Club Leader: You are active in Formula SAE, Rocketry Club, Chem-E Car, or a Maker Space. You build things in your free time.
Hands-On: You aren't afraid to get grease on your hands or wear PPE for 4 hours a day.
Curious: You ask questions when you don't understand the physics. You read the papers we send you.
Bonus Points
Experience with Python/MATLAB.
Experience with CAD (SolidWorks/Fusion 360).
About Andros Innovations
Andros Innovations is a pioneer in advanced chemical engineering, redefining the global ammonia supply chain to fuel a decarbonized future. Our proprietary reactor technology disrupts the century-old Haber-Bosch process, enabling the efficient production of low-carbon ammonia at low temperatures and atmospheric pressure, unlocking a scalable path to green fertilizer and sustainable marine fuel.
Supported by Activate.org, Greentown Labs, Third Derivative, Massachusetts Center for Clean Energy and others Andros has been recognized as a top emerging deep-tech startup within our first year. Andros has received awards from MIT’s Climate and Energy Prize, Yale’s Climate Innovation Summit, The University of Connecticut and FORGE, for innovation and climate impact. We are transitioning from breakthrough science to industrial scale, building the technology needed to feed the next billion people and power the heavy industries of tomorrow without emissions.
